Welcome to my home page
My name is Paul Andreasen, and obviously, my callsign is K1JAN
I am an Extra Class, and currently the Technical Coordinator for the ARRL Santa Barbara Section, and one of the Technical Advisors for the ARRL Southwestern Division. It is a personal honor to so represent my fellow hams in such a fun, educational and productive hobby.
If you have any issues with technical , or RFI problems, need some advice, or even if you are a brand new ham and need "tips" and guidance, e-mail me through the link at the bottom of the page. I will try to help, and if I cannot, I will attempt to arrange with one of our appointed ARRL Technical Specialists, someone from one of the organized RFI committees, or other volunteers to assist you. Helping one another is one of the most basic tenets of this great hobby. I hope you will join me and the other ARRL volunteers inproviding that help. It is what we are here for. If you would like to be a part of the section's TS, RFI or Elmer groups, please contact me. We always need and want more hams to get involved with helping one another.
This site contains links to current Technical Specialist issues, forms, and information. Also, you will find links to the local area clubs, and Lompoc/Santa Maria/Vandenberg AFB related data.
One of the organizations hosted on this site is the Santa Barbara Section Council of Clubs . The SBSCC is an ARRL affiliated membership organization formed for the benefit of all Amateur Radio Clubs in the Santa Barbara Section, in Santa Barbara, Ventura and San Luis Obispo Counties. I urge you to give them a visit. If your club or organization does not belong to the SBS Council of Clubs, please consider doing so, as they are there only to help us all.
There are several links that are repeated on other pages I link to, simply for the convenience of those that come here. If you have any links you think should be added, please email them to me. There is also a link to my business web page below (Mount Desert West), as you never pass up free advertising!
A technical resource page, and several tutorial links will be added one of these days, as well as a "hints & kinks" column for you to add your vast amount of experience and Amateur Radio experience to, so as to provide guidance for others. Thank you for stopping by. God Bless, and "73", from me, to you and yours.

Lets make 2010 a safer time for everyone! Here is one way to help! EVERYONE that legally can, buy a gun and get properly trained in its safe use! Contrary to the sNooze Media, the real facts on firearms, from such Official recording agencies of the Federal Government as: (ones you can search yourself, instead of believing a talking head!) The Centers for Disease Control, National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, the Federal Burea of Investigation's Annual Crime Report (the media likes to use the "crimes involving guns" part that INCLUDES when only the police involved had a gun! We use the one two paragraphs later that tells of 2.5-2.8 TIMES as many uses of a firearms to STOP or prevent a crime, 90% of the time without the weapon being discharged! And these are only the "reported" ones! Plus, those are "official" figures for which they have "official" reports. Law Enforcement and others agree that the number is probably closer to 60 TIMES as much! Seen either of those referred to on the TV lately?), and The Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, Northwestern University School of Law. Really "iffy" sources, huh? >
To all my Brothers and Sisters who have Served:
Some may understand, others may not. To those that do, I salute you.
I have seen a thousand battles, and fought in a hundred wars I have been to untold places where we have never been I have seen missions that were overt, covert, and some that made movies pale I have seen places where the sun melts sand, or water freezes before it falls I have seen mountains, valleys, creeks and oceans, all that I had to cross I have gone where duty ordered, and done all my missions well I bear the holes, the missing limbs, and oh so many scars I don't deny the loneliness, nor the hurt or frustrations pain I don't mind that folks don't care to understand, or call us horrid names I don't mind taking their place in line, and going where they dared not I don't even mind that orders are sometimes wrong, though I must pay the price I am a soldier, a sailor, an airman, or a civilian gone into harm's awful way I went there on purpose, so others might not have to, and the need might go away I may die in America 's service, but will always proudly serve right up until that day I hope then, my life, my service and sacrifice, allow me to help guard Heaven's streets I thank you Lord, for allowing me, in this way, to serve my country's needs I think that to bullets, politics don't matter none, and the pay sure isn't great I know that among the ones who changed the world, just about how I will rate I have given most, or all I had, to preserve our wondrous nation's fate I served the Flag, and followed it, from oceans to muddy streams I just ask to lie under it, when comes the time for my eternal dreams Content Copyright © 2000 - 2010 by Paul Andreasen, K1JAN Paul E.
